Old Mutual Scholarships for Undergraduate South African Students – Apply Now
Young South African students with a particular interest in the investment industry are invited to submit their application form for the Old Mutual Investment Group Imfundo Trust Scholarship.
The scholarship is aimed at assisting black students in their first or second year of study, to pursue their tertiary education at select South African universities and the applications for this scholarship are open annually for interested students in the above-mentioned field of study.
Scholarship Coverage
The Imfundo Trust Scholarships provide funding to study on a full-time basis for undergraduate students and selected postgraduate degree programs at selected universities in South Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications are only accepted from South African citizens.
- Applicants who will be in their first year next year must have achieved an average of at least 70% in the mid-year Grade 12 examinations and a minimum of 70% in Mathematics and 70% in English FAL or 60% in English HL.
- Scholarships are only available to applicants who will be in their first or second year in the coming year, except Climate Studies.
- Applicants currently in their first year must have achieved an average of 65% and above in the latest examinations (mid-year / June).
- Applicants from rural and township backgrounds will be given preference.
Selection Process
- Interviews will be conducted for applicants who meet the shortlisted requirements, and the Board of Trustees will consider any other relevant factors when making the final decision on granting the scholarships.
- The Imfundo Trust reserves the right to adjust or withdraw any scholarship amount that may be awarded in terms of this application, should you be a beneficiary of other financial assistance (e.g. bursary, grants, loans, scholarships, awards, etc).

Students in the following fields of study are eligible to apply;
- Business, Commerce, Finance, and Management Sciences / Studies (first and second year in 2024)
- Computer Science and related qualifications (e. g. Computational Thinking) (first and the second year in 2024)
- Data Science (first and second year in 2024)
- Climate Studies (postgraduate)
- Engineering (first and second year in 2024)
